ASEAN-Italy Youth Conferenceabout
The project
In September 2020, during the 53rd Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Member Countries of ASEAN, Italy officially received the status of ASEAN Development Partner.
Global Action has welcomed such an important acknowledgment by organizing a new project – the ASEAN-Italy Youth Conference – involving both Italian and ASEAN students. The young delegates will deal with key topics common to both ASEAN and Italy, developing innovative and pioneering policy proposals.
Students will draft their conclusions on the topics at stake within a final communiqué that will be presented to the ASEAN Embassies and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

TOPICS

Food Security & Climate Change

Digitalization & Youth Empowerment
Two phases:
01.
Training
The first phase is entirely dedicated to the preparation and training of the young delegates to the Conference.
Through a series of webinars held by International Experts and Institutions’ Officials, students analyze the topics at stake and actively interact with the speakers of the panels.
The meetings take place in the three weeks before the Conference.
02.
Conference
The second phase consists in the organization of an International Conference held at the Jakarta-based ASEAN Secretariat (Indonesia), from 29 to 31 May 2023.
During the Conference, young delegates from ASEAN Countries and Italy will work together to draft concrete solutions and youth-oriented recommendations aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the ASEAN Countries and Italy on the two main topics of the Conference.
The delegates are expected to elaborate in an innovative way a final communiqué that will be delivered to the Institutions and Partners involved in the project.
